Eloísa Pleters-Escobar

LSWA, INTERN

Hi! I’m Eloísa (el-oh-ee-suh), an advanced standing MSW student at Catholic University, originally from El Paso, Texas. I am currently practicing at Family & Child Therapy as an advanced-standing graduate intern under the supervision of Lucy Sgroi, LCSW.  I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Portland State University in 2022, where I completed my field placement at the Resource Center for Students with Children. There, I helped develop programming to make higher education more accessible for student parents.

After graduation, I received my LSWA license to practice social work in DC and dedicated a year to service with AmeriCorps, supporting individuals who have experienced homelessness in permanent supportive housing. I also have experience engaging with youth who are experiencing a mental health crisis through crisis counseling and have worked with children as a mentor and tutor.

My passion lies in youth mental health, and I am committed to creating safe and supportive spaces for children to be their authentic selves and thrive through play therapy. I work with clients elementary through high-school age and engage clients from a client-centered, strength-based perspective and utilize a play-based therapeutic approach.  As a queer Latina from a low-income border community, I am particularly motivated to support underserved populations and advocate for equitable mental health resources. I look forward to making a positive impact in the lives of children and their families.

*Eloisa offers therapy services for youth at a reduced intern rate of $75/session. Please contact our intake coordinator to inquire about availability. *
